Every time I wear my Batik worn as a sarong (bought in Bali), I have to think about the beautiful times spent in Indonesia.I completely fell in love with their typical dresses and the weaves are amazing.
We also went to a little village in Lombok and we saw women weaving the batik. It's such a hard work and for a simple batik these women have to weave for a month. You can guess how much time they need for doing a more complicated one, with many colors and many figures in it.
An old woman of the village told us that the young girls have to learn to weave in order to be ready to get married.
It was such an interesting story and my girlfriends tried to do it and they realized how complicated it is to weave these batiks. Moreover they were really slow compared to them. ( So guess how much time thy would need to finish one...)
It was a really impressing experience and I brought this sarong to Italy and I love to wear it here to remember those amazing moments.
In retrospect I regret that I didn't buy some more sarong...
I leave you with some pictures taken here, at Isola d'Elba in Italy, where I'm spending the next weeks.
I'm sorry about the Iphone-quality but I didn't have anything else to take the pictures :P
